Assistant Manager – Private Client Tax
About the Role
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an ambitious tax professional to join our Private Client Tax team as an Assistant Manager. This full-time position is based in our Ipswich office, with the option for hybrid working under our agile working policy.

About the Team
Our Private Client Tax team supports a broad portfolio of clients, including:
High-net-worth individuals and families
Business owners and entrepreneurs
Professional partnerships
Company directors
Land and property owners
Retirees, family trusts, and estates
This variety ensures exposure to complex and interesting work, as well as opportunities to deepen your technical expertise and client relationship skills.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare tax returns for individuals, partnerships, trusts, and estates
Complete Capital Gains Tax returns, Inheritance Tax accounts, and Trust Registration requirements
Handle HMRC enquiries and assist with a range of tax advisory projects
Review work prepared by junior team members (depending on experience)
Manage your own portfolio of clients, ensuring deadlines and expectations are met
Contribute to the team’s knowledge sharing, process improvement, and training initiatives
Skills and Experience Required
Minimum 2 years’ recent practice experience in a personal tax or mixed tax role
Ideally ATT qualified (or equivalent); support for further study (e.g. CTA) is available
Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
Experience managing a client portfolio; exposure to budgeting and billing advantageous
Confident communicator, both written and verbal, with the ability to build strong client relationships
High level of IT proficiency, including MS Word and Excel; experience with tax software (e.g. CCH) preferred
Strong attention to detail and a proactive, conscientious approach
