Clark Wood are currently working with a well-established and highly regarded independent accountancy practice in Wigan who are looking to recruit an Assistant Audit Manager to join their growing Audit team.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a reputable North West firm with a strong and diverse audit client base, including clients across construction, manufacturing, retail, hospitality, leisure, and the charitable sector.

As an Assistant Audit Manager, you will manage audit assignments from planning through to completion, acting as the key point of contact for clients throughout the audit process. You will supervise and support junior members of the audit team, review audit files, and identify and resolve complex audit matters, escalating to senior management where appropriate.

You will liaise regularly with clients, ensuring the timely delivery of audit work and maintaining strong professional relationships. The role will also involve organising client meetings, managing audit schedules and statutory deadlines, contributing to team meetings, and ensuring audit files are well organised and compliant with current standards. You will use Excel and audit software to analyse data and support high-quality audit delivery.

The ideal candidate will be ACA qualified (or qualified by experience), with at least one year’s experience in a similar audit role within an accountancy practice. You will have strong technical audit knowledge, excellent attention to detail, and a proactive, organised approach to managing both your own workload and that of the team. Experience with CaseWare, Mercia Audit methodology, and data analytics tools would be advantageous.

This is a full-time, permanent position offering flexible working hours (37.5 hours per week, between 8am and 6pm), a supportive and collaborative working environment, and clear opportunities for progression within a growing audit team.

For more information, please contact Eleanor Snow at Clark Wood on 07375 801311 or email eleanor@clark-wood.co.uk.

We also offer a £500 referral bonus for any successful introductions.
