A highly regarded and growing South West–based firm of chartered accountants with a strong presence in Bristol. 
The firm works with a diverse client base including SMEs, owner-managed businesses, groups, charities, and larger corporate clients, and is known for its strong technical standards, supportive culture, and clear career progression pathways.
 
The Role
Due to continued growth, the firm is seeking an Audit Assistant Manager to join its Bristol audit team. This is a client-facing role with responsibility for managing audits from planning through to completion, supervising teams on-site, and supporting Managers and Partners in delivering a high-quality audit service.
The position offers excellent exposure to a varied client portfolio and provides a strong platform for progression to Audit Manager.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Planning, leading, and completing audit assignments for a diverse portfolio of clients
  • Acting as the main on-site contact for clients during audits
  • Supervising, coaching, and developing junior audit staff
  • Reviewing audit work and ensuring compliance with firm and regulatory standards
  • Preparing and reviewing statutory accounts where required
  • Identifying and communicating audit findings and management points to clients
  • Supporting Managers and Partners with workflow management and client service delivery
  • Assisting with proposals, tender documents, and business development activity
Candidate Requirements
  • ACA / ACCA qualified (or finalist close to qualification)
  • Strong audit background within UK accountancy practice
  • Experience of leading audits and supervising teams
  • Good technical knowledge of UK GAAP and auditing standards
  • Confident communicator with strong client-facing skills
  • Organised, proactive, and capable of managing multiple assignments
