Clark Wood is delighted to be working with a respected independent firm of Chartered Accountants in Penrith, who are seeking an ambitious and professional Accounts & Audit Senior to join their close-knit and growing team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a part-qualified or fully qualified (ACA / ACCA) accountant to take on a varied and hands-on role within a friendly and supportive practice, renowned for its long-standing client relationships and commitment to staff development.
Role Overview
The role involves a mix of accounts preparation and audit work, typically around 80% accounts and 20% audit, depending on experience and client needs.
You will work closely with clients across a variety of sectors, including owner-managed businesses, SMEs, and charitable organisations.
This position offers genuine career progression and is ideal for someone looking to take the next step in their accountancy career within a collaborative, locally based firm.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare year-end statutory accounts for limited companies, partnerships, and sole traders
- Complete corporation tax computations and liaise with HMRC as required
- Support and lead audit assignments from planning through to completion
- Manage and develop relationships with a diverse portfolio of clients
- Mentor junior team members and review their work
- Work closely with managers and partners to deliver client-focused solutions
- ACA / ACCA qualified or part-qualified (study support available for part-qualified)
- Experience in a UK accountancy practice is essential
- Strong technical knowledge of accounts preparation and basic tax principles
- Some audit experience is advantageous, but not essential
- Excellent communication, organisational, and time management skills
- Self-motivated and able to work independently and collaboratively
