VAT & Indirect Tax Manager

Clark Wood is a specialist Recruitment Consultancy operating throughout the United Kingdom within the Public Practice Accountancy & Tax sectors. Our core client base consists of Accountancy Practices ranging from Big 4, Top 10 & Mid-Tier firms through to independent regional firms and sole traders

Our client is looking for an individual to provide the provision of high quality practical and commercial advice on complex VAT issues to clients, ranging from small OMBs to Larger PLC's and Listed companies

This is an excellent opportunity to join our clients London office and develop their VAT offering across some of their larger offices.

Duties:

Actively identifying opportunities for VAT savings and promoting them both internally and externally
Managing VAT planning projects to ensure efficient and effective delivery to agreed deadlines
Negotiations with HMRC on VAT disputes
Dealing with all VAT aspects of company sales and acquisitions, including carrying out and reviewing due diligence, review of sale and purchase agreements, and providing practical advice
Delivering presentations at seminars
Preparation and delivery of pitches for new clients
Writing articles for newsletters and press releases
Keeping up to date with technical developments and communicating opportunities for VAT advice to partners and managers
Providing internal support for VAT queries from staff
Developing other members of tax staff to enhance their VAT expertise

Skills:

Be able to demonstrate expertise and practical experience, specialising solely in VAT (to include specialist areas such as charities, farming, professional practices and property
A track record of promoting VAT advice to clients and have proactively and developed their own profile in the VAT community.
Experience of working in a practice environment will be advantageous.
