Are you an experienced tax investigations professional looking for greater autonomy, flexibility, and the chance to make a meaningful impact?

A highly regarded specialist tax consultancy is seeking a Tax Investigations Specialist to join its expert team in a fully remote role. You’ll work on complex, high-stakes tax matters involving HMRC enquiries, disclosures, and settlements, partnering closely with clients, legal advisers, and senior consultants.

This is a unique opportunity to apply your specialist knowledge in a client-facing role, free from timesheets, rigid hierarchies, or office commutes.

πŸ’Ό Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage HMRC investigations, including COP9 (Contractual Disclosure Facility) and COP8 cases

  • Advise on and prepare voluntary disclosures, tax risk reviews, and settlement strategies

  • Draft clear, detailed technical reports and correspond directly with HMRC

  • Guide clients β€” including high-net-worth individuals, directors, and business owners β€” through sensitive and complex tax disputes

  • Work independently on your caseload while collaborating with senior tax and legal professionals across the UK

βœ… What We’re Looking For

  • Extensive experience in tax investigations – from HMRC, a tax practice, or a specialist consultancy

  • In-depth understanding of HMRC enquiry procedures, fraud investigations, and disclosure processes

  • Strong technical writing and analytical skills

  • Self-motivated and comfortable operating in a remote, autonomous environment

  • CTA, ATT, or former HMRC experience preferred
