Clark Wood are currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Accounts Manager to join a respected firm of Chartered Accountants based in Thornbury.
This is an excellent opportunity for an ACA / ACCA qualified accountant looking to take the next step in their career within a leadership-focused role. The successful candidate will lead an established Owner Managed Business (OMB) team, manage a varied client portfolio and play a key role in the continued growth of the practice.
The role offers genuine progression opportunities, including a potential pathway to Director level, for an ambitious accountant looking to develop their career.
The Role
As Senior Accounts Manager, your responsibilities will include:

Leading and developing the OMB accounts team, including Accounts Seniors and Semi Seniors.
Managing a varied portfolio of owner-managed businesses, SMEs and entrepreneurial clients.
Acting as the main point of contact for clients, building strong long-term relationships.
Reviewing statutory accounts, management accounts and tax compliance work.
Providing commercial accounting advice and supporting clients with their business needs.
Overseeing workflow, deadlines and quality standards across the team.
Supporting junior team members through coaching, mentoring and technical guidance.
Working closely with Partners on client strategy, advisory opportunities and practice development.

About You
The successful candidate will ideally have:

ACA or ACCA qualification.
Significant experience working within a UK accountancy practice.
Previous experience managing a client portfolio at Manager level.
Strong technical knowledge of accounts preparation, tax compliance and advisory services.
Proven experience leading, mentoring and developing a team.
Excellent communication skills with a proactive and client-focused approach.
Commercial awareness and the ability to provide practical advice to business owners.
