Accountancy & Tax recruitment specialists Clark Wood are working with an established and well-regarded firm of accountants in Staffordshire who are currently looking to add a Personal Tax Senior to their team in Newcastle-Under-Lyme.

The role will involve looking after a portfolio of personal tax clients including HNWIs, company directors and sole traders for whom you will be responsible for ensuring that all compliance work is completed accurately and efficiently through the preparation and review of personal tax computations and returns.

As well as the compliance aspect of the role, there will be the opportunities for the successful individual to gain some exposure to tax planning work, working closely with the partners in the office on advisory projects.

The ideal candidate may be ATT qualified or qualified by experience and will have significant experience of managing their own portfolio of personal tax clients. Some experience of Trust tax compliance may be beneficial but is not essential.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Managing a portfolio of clients and acting as the main point of contact for the client and liaising with other advisers
Working closely alongside the partner, focusing on complex compliance issues including IHT, CGT & Entrepreneurs relief.
Overseeing the annual compliance cycle on your portfolio.
Reviewing tax returns, correspondence and advice drafted by more junior members of the team;
Maximising advisory opportunities from your portfolio of clients and dealing with ad hoc advisory and planning issues as they arise;
Preparing tax advisory letters, memos and reports and reviewing drafts prepared by more junior members of the team;
Managing WIP and billing;
Supporting junior staff
Maintaining an up-to-date technical knowledge of personal, trust and business tax matters.

Skills

ATT Qualified (ACA/ ACCA Qualified and QBE will also be considered)
Experience of managing your own portfolio of personal tax clients
