Accountancy Practice recruitment specialists Clark Wood are working with this leading regional firm of chartered accountants who are now looking to add an experienced Payroll Manager to the team in their Darlington office.

The successful individual will be joining an existing team of 8 and will have responsibility for overseeing the payroll processing for a variety of clients.

You will be responsible for liaising with clients directly to discuss and gather their figures, so excellent communication skills are essential.

You will have responsibility for the supervision of payroll assistants and seniors in the team, providing guidance to them and assisting them where necessary.

As a Payroll Manager based in the Darlington office, you’ll have the opportunity to work within a friendly and supportive environment and will be rewarded with a highly competitive salary as well as great benefits including hybrid working, flexible start and finish times, and a nine-day fortnight (enabling employees to work their fortnightly contractual hours over 9 days to achieve one day off a fortnight).

Duties & Responsibilities:

To provide an effective and efficient end to end payroll service
To review the work of the payroll team and ensure this is accurate
To undertake larger payroll duties
Liaise with clients on payroll matters
To ensure that payroll activities meet legislative and statutory requirements
To assist the Senior Manager with any further duties.

Skills:

Have high volume payroll experience gained in a payroll bureau. Practice experience is essential.
Proven experience within a payroll Supervisor/Manager role.
Strong people management skills
