Personal Tax Assistant Manager – Leading Independent Accountancy Firm (London)
Overview
An established and forward-thinking accountancy firm is seeking an experienced Personal Tax professional to join its growing Private Client team. The successful candidate will manage a varied portfolio of clients — including high-net-worth individuals, sole traders, partnerships, and trusts — while supporting the wider team with complex advisory work and mentoring junior colleagues.
This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated tax professional seeking autonomy, client contact, and exposure to diverse and challenging personal tax work within a supportive, high-performing team.
Key Responsibilities
Manage a portfolio of personal tax clients, ensuring all compliance requirements are met accurately and on time.
Review personal tax returns for individuals, partnerships, and trusts, both for your own portfolio and those prepared by junior team members.
Act as a key point of contact for clients, communicating confidently and knowledgeably via phone, email, and in-person meetings.
Provide proactive advice on tax planning opportunities, including Capital Gains Tax (CGT), Inheritance Tax (IHT), trusts, and shareholder planning.
Support partners with bespoke consultancy projects such as UK resident/non-domicile tax planning and succession strategies.
Identify opportunities for cross-referral and collaboration with other service lines.
Oversee billing and administrative management of your client portfolio.
About You
Significant experience in personal tax within a professional practice environment.
Strong technical knowledge across a broad range of private client tax areas (CGT, IHT, trusts, residency, and domicile).
Confident communicator with the ability to build trusted client relationships.
Organised, commercially minded, and able to work autonomously.
Experience using CCH Personal Tax is advantageous.
CTA qualification (or equivalent) preferred, though highly capable QBE professionals will be considered.
What’s on Offer
Competitive salary package commensurate with experience.
Opportunity to work directly with partners and high-profile clients.
Supportive, collaborative working environment with genuine work-life balance.
Career progression and exposure to high-quality advisory work.
