Accountancy Practice recruitment specialists Clark Wood are working with a distinguished and progressive firm of chartered accountants in Wigan who are looking to add an Accounts & Audit Assistant Manager to their growing team.

As an Audit & Accounts Assistant Manager, the successful candidate will undertake a varied role in which you will gain exposure to a wide range of clients from a variety of business sectors.

You will be responsible for managing the audit process for a varied portfolio of clients from planning to completion as well as working closely with audit seniors and juniors, reviewing their work and supporting them in the development of their role.

You will be responsible for managing a portfolio of accounts clients, acting as first point of contact for them. You will you be responsible for preparing and reviewing year-end accounts and corporation tax returns for your clients.

Joining the Wigan office you will work with clients from a multitude of industries and, due to the firm’s excellent reputation in the area, you will gain exposure to working with a range of premier businesses.

The ideal candidate will be ACA / ACA Qualified, with a couple of years’ post qualification experience, and will have recent experience of undertaking a mixed audit and accounts position.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Manage on-site audits, implementing agreed plan, through to completion, co-ordinating on-site resources, allocating the team to tasks and timescales for completion
Lead on audit quality, ensuring adherence and compliance with company practice and auditing standards
Working closely with audit seniors and juniors, reviewing their work and supporting them in the development of their role
Responsible for audit findings report, identifying and documenting any areas of concern/risks identified by audit team, emphasising relevant messages, and submitting for review
Developing good client relationships, in order to adapt approach and communication and ensure client satisfaction
Manage a portfolio of accounts preparation jobs, ensuring more junior members of the team are coached through the assignments
Offers support to team members and across other teams, sharing knowledge as appropriate


ACA / ACCA Qualified
Experience of leading Audit assignments
Practice experience is essential
