Accounts Supervisor

Clark Wood, specialist accountancy recruitment consultants, are working with a highly respected accountancy firm in Bromsgrove seeking a skilled and motivated Accounts Supervisor to join their team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong professional to manage their own portfolio of clients while continuing to develop and progress within a supportive and growing practice.
As an Accounts Supervisor, you will be responsible for managing a small portfolio of clients and assisting managers and directors with both compliance and advisory work. Your duties will include:
• Reviewing bookkeeping and VAT returns
• Preparing and reviewing management accounts, financial statements, and sole trader accounts
• Preparing and reviewing corporation tax returns
• Drafting financial and tax advice with support from managers and directors
• Handling personal tax filings and demonstrating a solid understanding of personal tax
• Understanding client disclosures and ensuring accurate reporting
• Acting as first point of contact for your portfolio of clients
• Liaising with clients regarding deadlines, requirements, and queries
• Assisting managers and directors with deadlines across Accounts, Tax, VAT, Payroll, and Company Secretarial matters
• Understanding clients’ principal activities and business operations
• Advising clients on internal systems, controls, and accounting software implementation
• Providing reassurance and clear guidance to clients on tax and financial matters

We are looking for a professional with:
• Minimum 4 years’ experience in an accountancy practice
• A recognised professional qualification (ACA, ACCA, or equivalent)
• Experience as a Supervisor or experienced Senior
• Strong commitment to maintaining high-level technical knowledge
• Excellent people, communication, analytical, and research skills
• Self-motivation and ability to apply skills to new scenarios
• Ability to work under pressure with accuracy and focus
• Competent in MS Outlook, Word, Excel; experience with Xero essential
• Knowledge of Iris, Alpha, QuickBooks, Sage 50 is advantageous
• Good awareness of technology and IT systems relevant to accounting
