Specialist Accountancy Practice recruiters Clark Wood are working with an established and well-regarded independent firm of chartered accountants in central Bristol who are now looking to add an Accounts Senior to their team.

As a result of continued success and growth within the firm, there is an opportunity for a driven individual to undertake a varied and challenging role which will allow for genuine scope for development.

Working as an Accounts Senior, the successful individual will undertake a varied role. You will have the opportunity to gain responsibility for your own portfolio of interesting clients which will primarily consist of limited companies but will also include some private individuals and partnerships from an array of industry sectors.

The workload will be varied with this being very much a general practice role. It will include the preparation and review of both year-end accounts and tax returns, management accounts preparation and the review of VAT and bookkeeping work completed by junior staff.

Aside from the day to day compliance focused activities, you will act as an advisor to your clients, working closely with them to assist them in achieving their growth targets.  

The successful candidate will have excellent experience of working in a varied general practice position including Accounts preparation and Tax compliance work. Candidates who are ACA / ACCA Qualified as well as those at the final stages of their studies will both be considered

Duties & Responsibilities

Preparation of limited company statutory accounts and corporation tax computations and returns
Assistance with business advisory work
Reporting to partners – you will be involved with preparation of accounts for sole traders, partnerships and SME’s.
Self-assessment tax return preparation
Undertaking basic tax research
Assistance with tax planning and advisory work
Dealing with HMRC correspondence


ACA / ACCA Qualified or Part Qualified
Experience of working in practice is essential
Experience of supervising / reviewing work completed by junior staff would be beneficial
