Accounts Senior – Newton Abbot

Clark Wood, specialist recruiters for accountancy practices, are partnering with a well-established and forward-thinking chartered accountancy firm in Newton Abbot. Due to continued growth, the firm is seeking an ambitious Accounts Senior to join their team.
This is a fantastic opportunity to work with one of Devon’s leading accountancy practices, gaining hands-on experience in a varied general practice environment. You’ll be involved in accounts preparation, tax compliance, and advisory work, with scope to take responsibility for your own portfolio of clients.

Key Responsibilities
• Prepare statutory accounts for limited companies and corporation tax computations and returns.
• Support business advisory projects and provide input to management accounting.
• Prepare accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and SMEs.
• Assist with self-assessment tax returns and HMRC correspondence.
• Undertake basic tax research under supervision.
• Contribute to tax planning and advisory work.
• Supervise and review work completed by junior staff where required.

Skills & Experience
• ACA / ACCA qualified or part-qualified (qualified by experience will be considered).
• Experience in a general practice accounting role, including accounts and tax compliance.
• Ability to manage a portfolio of clients and build strong relationships.
• Experience in supervising or reviewing junior staff is advantageous.
• Strong attention to detail, organisational skills, and commercial awareness.
