Accounts Senior with ref. WL-18523

Clark Wood is delighted to be partnering with a highly respected and growing independent firm of Chartered Accountants in Huntingdon. The firm serves a diverse and established client base, including SMEs, limited companies, partnerships, and sole traders.

As part of their continued expansion, they are seeking a confident and experienced Senior Accounts Technician to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for a client-facing professional to step into a senior-level role within a supportive, forward-thinking practice.

Key Responsibilities
Prepare statutory year-end accounts for a portfolio of clients, including limited companies, partnerships, and sole traders
Oversee and submit VAT returns in line with HMRC and MTD regulations
Review work prepared by junior team members, providing feedback and mentoring
Liaise directly with clients, offering support and advice on accounting and bookkeeping queries
Assist with management accounts, budgeting, and forecasting as required
Use cloud accounting systems (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, Sage) to manage client data efficiently
Ensure deadlines and service standards are consistently met
Support Partners and Managers in delivering exceptional client service and identifying advisory opportunities

Requirements
AAT qualified (Level 4), ACA/ACCA part-qualified or fully qualified, or QBE with significant practice experience
Minimum of 4 years’ experience within a UK accountancy practice
Strong accounts preparation and VAT knowledge
Confident with cloud accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, and Sage
Experience reviewing and supporting junior team members
Excellent communication skills and a client-focused approach
Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines
