Job Title: Accounts Semi-Senior £34,000 - £40,000
Overview
We are seeking an ambitious and detail-oriented Accounts Semi-Senior to join our growing practice. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in preparing accounts for a range of clients, solid working knowledge of Xero, and some additional exposure to personal tax. This role is perfect for someone looking to progress within practice while expanding their technical expertise.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare year-end financial statements for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies.
Manage bookkeeping tasks using Xero, including bank reconciliations, ledger maintenance, and posting journals.
Prepare VAT returns and assist with quarterly reporting deadlines.
Support the preparation of personal tax returns and basic tax computations.
Liaise with clients regarding accounting queries, outstanding information, and general support needs.
Assist senior staff with ad-hoc tasks, including management accounts and compliance work.
Ensure all work is completed accurately and in line with relevant accounting standards.
Required Skills & Experience
Previous experience in an accountancy practice (typically 3 years minimum).
Proficient in Xero, including invoicing, reconciliations, and reporting features.
Working knowledge of personal tax principles (e.g., self-assessment, allowable expenses).
Strong numeracy skills and attention to detail.
Ability to manage deadlines and work across multiple client files.
Good communication skills and a proactive approach.
Desirable
Studying AAT/ACCA or similar qualification.
Experience with other cloud accounting platforms (e.g., QuickBooks, FreeAgent).
Exposure to corporation tax or payroll processing.
