Accounts Manager / Business Services Manager

Accountancy Practice recruitment specialists Clark Wood are currently working with a leading firm of chartered accountants in Essex who are looking to add an experienced and driven Business Services Manager / Accounts Manager to their existing team in Ilford.

Working within this well renowned firm as an Accounts Manager, you will have responsibility for the management of a diverse client portfolio, primarily consisting of Owner Managed Businesses, from an array of business sectors. You will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and accurate provision of all accountancy and tax services for the clients within your portfolio.

The accounting services you will be responsible for providing will be varied and will include year-end accounts, tax compliance, management accounts, bookkeeping and VAT work.

Aside from the Client Management aspect of the role you will also be responsible for supervising and managing a team of junior staff which will include the delegation of accounting work to them and reviewing it on completion.

Strong communication skills are a pre-requisite for the position as you will be responsible for building and maintaining both new and existing client relationships, as well as being on hand to offer support to your clients as and when required.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Managing a portfolio of clients
Some preparation but primarily review of statutory accounts
Review of monthly/quarterly management accounts
Review of VAT returns and bookkeeping
Working closely with partners you will have responsibility for clients and staff alike.
Developing and maintaining strong client relationships
Business development - helping to win new clients for the firm and tendering for jobs when required
Managing and developing junior members of the team


ACA or ACCA Qualified
Excellent knowledge of Accountancy software
Practice experience is essential
